This morning, Norbert Leo Butz and Kathleen Chalfant announced the nominations for The 77th Annual Drama League Awards in the categories of Distinguished Production of Play, Distinguished Production of a Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Revival of a Musical and the Distinguished Performance Award. Both actors are previous winners of The Drama League's Distinguished Performance Award. According to an audition notice, the musical revival of CARRIE will hold a development lab at MCC from May 25, 2011 through June 7, 2011. Stafford Arima will direct, Matt Williams will choreograph, and Mary Mitchell-Campell will musical direct.

As BroadwayWorld reported back in February, Seattle's Intiman Theatre has been going though hard times financially for several months. This winter, the organization as it is now calling for the support of the public in order to solve its issues. The theatre, which was $1 million in debt, was attemping to raise $500,000 by April, and a second $500,000 by September. As of November the theatre's debt stood at $2.3 million. Since then, over $800,000 had been raised.

In an interview with THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER this week, Joan Rivers admits that at this point in her career, she hopes to come full circle. In 1972, Rivers made her Broadway debut in the comedy Fun City. She returned to the Great White Way in 1986 in Broadway Bound and then again in 1994 in Sally Marr...and her escorts in a role which garnered her a Tony nomination.

The 2010 Tony winning Best Musical MEMPHIS welcomes legendary radio personality and author, 'Cousin Brucie' Morrow to the Shubert theatre for a special one week only cameo appearance starting Tuesday, May 3 - Sunday May 8, 2011. This event coincides with the release of Cousin Brucie's paperback edition, Rock & Roll...And the Beat Goes On; which is a tribute to the great musicians of the 50s, 60s and 70s. Autographed copies of the book will be available at the theatre during his show appearances.

In celebration of the Royal nuptials of Prince William of Wales and Catherine Elizabeth 'Kate' Middleton at Buckingham Palace, the hosts of ABC's popular talker 'The View' will observe this special occasion with 'A Royal Wedding - The View,' a live, one-hour special edition, Friday, April 29 (11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET), covering all the pomp and circumstance. This marks the first time 'The View' has broadcast live on Friday since Sept. 12, 2008. Regularly featured co-hosts Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd will be joined in-studio by Hollywood royalty Goldie Hawn, a featured guest co-host for the day. Barbara Walters, on assignment in London for ABC News, will join the program live via satellite.

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center announced today eight plays to be developed at the 2011 National Playwrights Conference (NPC) under the leadership of Artistic Director Wendy C. Goldberg. The selected playwrights will spend the month of July at the O'Neill's campus developing and presenting staged readings of their work during the NPC's 47th season. Tickets for these readings go on sale Wednesday, June 8. Advanced ticket sales for O'Neill Members will be available Monday, May 16

Jujamcyn Theaters and True Colors Theatre Company have announced the 3rd Annual August Wilson Monologue Competition, featuring high school students from Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, New York, Pittsburgh, and Seattle performing monologues by the legendary American playwright, to take place on Monday, May 9th at 7:00 p.m. at the August Wilson Theatre (245 West 52nd Street). The event is free and open to the public!

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS will present the 25TH ANNUAL EASTER BONNET COMPETITION on Monday, April 25 (4:30 PM) and Tuesday, April 26 (2 PM) at Broadway's Minskoff Theatre (200 West 45th Street). The event celebrates and concludes six intensive weeks of fundraising by the theatre community benefiting BC/EFA.

Broadway's HIGH, starring Kathleen Turner, will close this Sunday, April 24. As of that date, it will have played 28 previews and 8 regular performances. HIGH is currently playing at the Booth Theatre (222 West 45th Street).

The full company is announced for the final season of The Bridge Project featuring Kevin Spacey, artistic director of The Old Vic, in the title role of Richard III. The Bridge Project will open at The Old Vic in London on June 29, 2011 and then embark on an international tour including the Athens & Epidaurus Festival, Spain's Centro Niemeyer, Hong Kong Arts Festival, and Singapore Repertory Theatre, arriving at BAM's Harvey Theater in New York in January 2012. Further international tour dates to be announced shortly.
