Jacob Rivera-Sanchez graduated from Texas Wesleyan University in May 2015 with his Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Theatre. As a student, he worked as the assistant to the theatre business manager all throughout his four-year undergraduate experience.
While at Wesleyan he was involved both onstage and backstage for more than 15 productions. He appeared onstage in Wesleyan productions of Cabaret, A Man For All Seasons, Certificate of Death, Into The Woods, The Drowsy Chaperone, The Survivor and Rent. He was also involved in the Playmarket staged readings of Positive and Graham's Grail in New York City. He directed two productions as a student: How Many To Tango? and the mainstage production of Fuddy Meers.
In 2014, thanks to the help of his Wesleyan classmates, he was named NewYork.com's Ultimate Broadway Fan and received an all-expense paid trip to the 2014 Tony Awards rehearsal in New York City, hosted by Hugh Jackman.
In 2015, upon release of the Into The Woods film, Disney selected Jacob as the winner of the "No One Is Alone" Fan Art Contest and received another all-expense paid trip to New York City during March 2016, where he had the opportunity to see 6-time Tony winner Audra McDonald in Shuffle Along, Tony winner Laura Benanti in She Loves Me and the current mega-hit Hamilton.
Summer 2015, he was named Telecharge.com's Broadway Booster and won tickets and a backstage tour of On The Twentieth Century starring Tony-winner Kristin Chenoweth. That same month, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS also selected Jacob for their Broadway Fan contest where his photo appeared over Times Square during the 2015 annual Broadway Flea Market.
Jacob has done graphic design for different community and high school theatres in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and is currently an Equity Membership Candidate through Actors' Equity Association. He has appeared onstage in several productions including Casa Mañana's productions of Jesus Christ Superstar, West Side Story, and Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat.
