Interviewed with Anton Zetterholm, who currently plays the role of Raoul Vicomte de Chagny in the 2016 Swedish production of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.

The critically-acclaimed nine-time Tony Award® winning HIT musical THE BOOK OF MORMON is heading to Sweden next year with the first non-english production of the show. The cast has been annouced today with Swedish musical theatre stars Linus Wahlgren and Per Andersson in the lead roles. 

Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic 'THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA' is one of the most successful pieces of theatre and entertainment of all time and continues to captivate audiences all over the world. The first Swedish production in the late 80's was a huge success so this revival was very anticipated by the old and the new generations of Swedish theatre-goers. I heard someone in the audience say that it was like visiting an old friend after almost 30 years.

The Swedish production of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA had their press day in Stockholm yesterday where they previewed three scenes from the show. Broadwayworld Sweden were there to cover it!

'FRÅN BROADWAY TILL DUVEMÅLA' delivers a delicious Swedish smorgasbord of theatrical talent and a collection of some of the greatest musical theatre songs of all time.

Bullets Over Broadway is written by none other than Woody Allen. It has everything that a real musical should have; speed, fan, exuberance and delightful humor. In the impressive cast of characters we see among others Helen Sjoholm, Johan Rheborg, Johan Rabaeus, Shima Niavarani, Katrin Sundberg and Andreas Nilsson. The young screenwriter David Shane played by Linus Wahlgren.

This spring, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, will open in Stockholm with Swedish singer Ola Salo (JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR) in the lead role. It will be a different, punk and expressive set that leaves no one unaffected. Magnus Skogsberg and Pia Gradvall has made new Swedish translation of the material, the director is Hugo Hansen and musical manager Kristofer Nergardh.

After two sold-out seasons in Malmo, the Swedish successful musical SÄLLSKAPSRESAN (The Charter Trip) based on the 1980's comedy movie is finally coming to Stockholm September 9. SÄLLSKAPSRESAN The Musical is the official stage version of Lasse Åberg's classic film comedy from 1980. A masterpiece which rightly has left countless of wonderful memories behind him among generations of moviegoers. Who does not remember the four P's, Pepe's Bodega or Sven Melander the ever-thirsty Berra?

If you read my previous article you already know that Swedish West End performer, Marsha Songcome is taking over the role of Gigi Van Tranh in Claude-Michel Schonberg & Alain Boublil's MISS SAIGON from 14 December 2015 until the closing date 27 February 2016 at the Prince Edward Theatre in London. I was very lucky to get an interview with Marsha who recently also got a role in the West End production of Aladdin and won Broadwayworld.com's Understudy of the year.

KRISTINA FROM DUVEMÅLA (Kristina fran Duvemala) is a musical based on the four Emigrants novels by Swedish writer Vilhelm Moberg. Struggling to survive with multiple children, growing depts, failing crops, KRISTINA FROM DUVEMÅLA tells the story of the nearly starved Kristina (Maria Ylipaa), her husband Karl-Oskar (Robert Noack) and his brother Robert (Oskar Nilsson) must flee on a crowded boat full of migrants from the poverty and oppression in mid-19th century's Sweden, migrating to Minnesota, USA. But the 'New Land' is not all bliss and roses. A devastated Kristina never grows to like America and lies awake at night, tormented by her longing for her home country, and begs God to let her return one day. She is the perfect example of an unhappy immigrant.

Anton Zetterhom joins the Swedish revival production of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA as Raoul de Chagny which is set to premiere 14 September 2016. 

LOLA'S BAR. A brand new Swedish musical starring Anton Zetterholm, Karin Martensson, Sanna Johansson, Mattias Ermedal and Jakob Albinsson is in the works. It is written by Anders Lignell and Peter Wiberg. The story takes place at Lola's Bar. A place where artists can unwind, drink, eat and hear the latest gossip in the world of theater.

It's official. Former Broadway and West End Phantom Peter Jöback is going to star in a Swedish revival of the original replica production of The Phantom Of The Opera in Stockholm 2016.

Based on the 1973 French play of the same name LA CAGE AUX FOLLES tells the story about the middle-aged homosexual couple who reside in Saint-Tropez, George (played by Roger Storm), the owner of the drag nightclub 'LA CAGE AUX FOLLES' and his partner Albin (played by Mikael Odhag), the performer of the nightclub who goes under the alias of 'Zaza'. Their son, Jean-Michel (Filip Tallham), George's illegitimate offspring from a one night stand is getting married to Anne Dindon, daughter of the conservative leader or 'Tradition, Family and Morality Party'. Therefore, they are forced to take drastic action to hide their sexual orientation in order to meet the family of their son's fiancé...But the question is if they can keep it up?

Based on the movie with the same name, Peter Joback and Helen Sjoholm stars in the new Swedish musical LIVET ÄR EN SCHLAGER. (English title: Once In A Lifetime) It follows the schlager music (hit songs frequently represented at Eurovision Song Contest) obsessed Mona Berglund who steals and submits her employer's, a cerebral palsy sufferer's, self composed song. A song, which qualifies for the finals and leads Mona to stardom. The world premiere in Stockholm took place on Saturday 11 September starring the star duo Peter Joback and Helen Sjoholm whom are once again reunited on the theatre stage, 19 years after their roles in 'Kristina Fran Duvemala'. Let's see what the critics had to say...

It is that time of the year. The days get shorter, the temperature drops, the leaves fall and we say our goodbyes to the northern midnight sun. The autumn has finally come, and we could not be happier! But this can only mean one thing for us Swedish theatre lovers, a fresh new theatre season! This season brings both revivals of old favorites and new shows and I have complied a list of upcoming shows I'm looking forward to see!
