But her family is distracted by the technology of modern life, from cell phones and text messages to bills and budgets. They are all too busy to listen. But when Cristina enters a dream world, she encounters several familiar characters from Latino folklore - the jaguar, the armadillo, and the daughter of the Sun God, among others - who not only help her speak her mind, but give her the confidence to face her future.

Burning Coal Theatre Company will close its 15th season with the world premiere of Jude the Obscure, Parts 1 & 2 by Ian Finley, with music and lyrics by Thomas Hardy, Bruce Benedict, Jerome Davis and Jonathan Fitts. Bay Area Cabaret closes its 2011-2012 season with Tony Award winning actress/singer Laura Benanti. Benanti makes her San Francisco cabaret debut May 12, 2012 with her solo show Let Me Entertain You, which showcases her wide musical and comedic repertoire. The newly established Harbor Stage Company announces their much anticipated inaugural season. The artist-run ensemble will offer three mainstage productions in Summer 2012 at the beloved theater on the Harbor.

La MaMa presents Poor Baby Bree in I Am Going to Run Away, a one-woman musical conceived and performed by Bree Benton, with an original book written by Bree Benton and fifteen archival songs from the golden age of vaudeville (1890s-1930s). I Am Going to Run Away is directed by David Schweizer, with musical direction by Franklin Bruno (on piano), and featuring Karen Waltuch (on viola) and Jacob Garchik (on tuba and trombone).

First Folio Theatre, at Mayslake Peabody Estate, begs the question, "Are you afraid of ghosts?" with its production of Henry James' psychological thriller THE TURN OF THE SCREW. This stage adaptation by Jeffrey Hatcher is led by two actors and Director Alison C. Vesely. Now in its 15th season of bringing performances of Shakespeare and other classics to the Chicagoland suburbs, First Folio Theatre will preview THE TURN OF THE SCREW on March 28th, open on March 31 and run through April 29th.
