Burning Coal to Premiere OAKWOOD UNPLUGGED, 5/18-20

Burning Coal will premiere Oakwood: Unplugged, a musical performance in the historic Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh, NC, Friday and Saturday, May 18 and 19th at 6:30 pm and Sunday, May 20th at 2 pm. Adult tickets are $20, students $10, and are available by calling 919.834.4001 or visiting www.burningcoal.org.

Oakwood: Unplugged is a music celebration of some of the musically inclined citizens from Raleigh’s illustrious past. It features all new material written by Ian Finley and Rebecca Wyrick,. The cast of ten Triangle-based actors will perform under the direction of Raleigh’s Jonathan McCarter.

Burning Coal Theatre Company is a small, professional theatre located in Raleigh, NC. Burning Coal is an incorporated, non-profit [501 (c) (3)] organization. Burning Coal's mission is to produce literate, visceral, affecting theatre that is experienced, not simply seen. Burning Coal produces explosive reexaminations of overlooked classic and modern plays, as well as new plays, whose themes and issues are of immediate concern to our audience, using the best local, national and International Artists available. According to press notes, the organizations works toward a theatre of high-energy performances and minimalist production values. The emphasis is on literate works that are felt and experienced viscerally, unlike more traditional linear plays, at which audiences are most often asked to observe without participating.
