Mary Becht to be Honored with Howard Kleinberg AwardMarch 26, 2012The 2012 Howard Kleinberg Award recipient has been announced by the Carbonells. Established in 2000, the award is named after Howard Kleinberg, long-time Editor of The Miami News, historian, and author of numerous articles and books on the social and cultural history of Miami and South Florida. It is awarded as special recognition for contributions to the health and development of the arts in South Florida.
This year's honor will go to Mary A. Becht.

Atlanta Opera 2012-2013 Season to Include CARMEN, LA TRAVIATAMarch 26, 2012Atlanta Opera Zurich General Director Dennis Hanthorn today announced the Atlanta Opera's 2012-2013 season. The Atlanta Opera's 2012-2013 mainstage productions at the Cobb Energy Centre will feature Bizet's popular classic Carmen, November 10-18, 2012; Verdi's tragic and romantic opera La traviata, March 2-10, 2013; and Rossini's comic opera The Italian Girl in Algiers, April 27-May 5, 2013. Season tickets are now on sale for the three Atlanta Opera mainstage productions at Cobb Energy Centre. Also announced were a donor benefits program called MyOpera, a completely new approach to issuing donor benefits in the world of the performing arts; 2012-2013 community engagement initiatives, including the hugely successful 24-Hour Opera Project and High School Opera Institute; and the details of the 2012 Atlanta Opera Ball: A Night in Seville, a fundraiser supporting and sustaining the exceptional artistic quality of The Atlanta Opera. Bergen played Four Seasons member Bob Gaudio in the first national tour and Las Vegas companies of the Broadway smash Jersey Boys. In Los Angeles, he has appeared in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum for Reprise, Venice for Center Theatre Group, and A Snow White Christmas for Lythgoe Family Productions. Previous television credits include, Gossip Girl, Desperate Housewives, Person of Interest, and Franklin & Bash. Bergen's debut CD, The Las Vegas Sessions, was released in October, 2010.
