Jewelbox at the Rendezvous Releases November Schedule inculding Theater, Comedy, and Burlesque Performances.

Houston Grand Opera (HGO) will present its forty-first world premiere, To Cross the Face of the Moon / Cruzar la Cara de la Luna, commissioned by HGO through its Song of Houston project. Music by José 'Pepe' Martinez, music director of Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, with libretto by acclaimed Broadway director and author Leonard Foglia, the opera will be performed in concert by a cast that includes mezzo-soprano Cecilia Duarte, baritone and HGO studio alumnus Octavio Moreno, and Martinez, together with Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at the Wortham Theater Center in Houston, Texas. This will be Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán's only Houston performance in 2010.

The NATIONAL NEW PLAY NETWORK (NNPN), the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, is accepting submissions for the fifth annual Smith Prize. Funded by a gift from writer Timothy Jay Smith and a group of socially conscious donors, The Smith Prize is awarded to a full-length, non-musical political play that illuminates issues that can only be dealt with at the national or global level, even if the story is told from an individual perspective.

This November, Shadow Theatre Company proudly adds an electrifying new musical to our 14th 'Sankofa' season calendar. 'An Evening with Nina,' written and directed by our renowned Artistic Director Hugo Sayles, features an outstanding ensemble cast of local favorites, including Stephanie Hancock, and stage newcomers like Dominique Christina and Hashim Hakim.

A multitude of the most curious chapters from 500+ years of animal trials will take center stage in late November at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College with excerpts from 'The Tragical-Comical Trial Trial of Madame P and Other 4-Legged and Winged Creatures,' a multi-media phantasmagoria-in-progress by award-winning playwright Susan Yankowitz. The play is widely interdisciplinary, engaging themes of animal rights and law, criminal justice, philosophy and ethics. The concluding event of John Jay's annual Art of Justice Series, it will be presented on Monday and Tuesday, November 29 and 30 at 7:00pm. The Gerald W. On Monday, November 8th at 8 p.m. we get to know our waitress. In her one?woman show, aptly named 86'd - a term used in restaurants when the kitchen is out of something ?? Diana Arnold explores the world of New York City restaurants. Arnold intertwines her years of service experience with the autobiographical retelling of life with a handicapped father living with Cerebral Palsy.

The Merry War Theatre Group's staging of William Shakesepeare's most famous tragedy promises to be one of the most innovative, ambitious, and entertaining to hit Los Angeles in years. A cast of just thirteen actors, two fight choreographers, and one beautiful theatre space will risk it all in this thrilling and imaginative rendering of The Tragedy of Romeo & Juliet. Emmy and Screen Actors Guild Award winner Eric McCormack (Will & Grace, Who Is Clark Rockefeller?) has signed up to play the lead role in TNT's PERCEPTION (working title), a dramatic pilot from executive producer Kenneth Biller (Smallville, Legend of the Seeker) and co-executive producer Mike Sussman (Star Trek: Voyager). This marks McCormack's third project with TNT after previously starring in the 2009 series Trust Me and co-producing the 2007 pilot Imperfect Union. He will also act as a producer on PERCEPTION.

Comedy sketch group The Three Englishmen are performing their hit Edinburgh Fringe show for the very last time - at the Pleasance London on Tuesday November 2nd, 8pm. The Englishmen's Edinburgh show was a standout on this year's fringe, featuring a unique mix of brilliantly-performed physical, visual and musical sketches. Over 1700 people came to see the show, which earned the group a host of 4 and 5 star reviews and was long-listed for the Edinburgh Comedy Awards. It would be great if you could come along!

On Wednesday, October 27th, Tableau D'Hôte Theatre held its first fundraising evening at the cool (but ‘hot') O Patro Vys on Mont Royal Est. Founded by Mike Payette and Mathieu Perron, Tableau D'Hôte Theatre is mandated to promote Canadian theatre in Montreal.
