The Pasadena Playhouse presents A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN. Conceived, written and directed by Randy Johnson, with choreography by Patricia Wilcox and musical direction by Tyler Evans. A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN stars Mary Bridget Davies, following her Tony Award nominated Broadway run. The Ohio Wine Festival presented by PNC and Columbus Monthly kicked off its 14th year at the North Market on July 10, and runs through this weekend only.  Twenty local wineries, including award-winners, six additional, and two right from Central Ohio (Signature Wines and RockSide Winery & Vineyard) all offered tastings by the pour, glass, bottle, or case. 

Siblings Vanya (Ross Lehman) and Sonia (Janet Ulrich Brooks) have spent their adult years trapped in mundane lives at their family's cottage, caring for their ailing parents. Meanwhile, their self-involved sister Masha (Mary Beth Fisher), a glamorous movie star, has traveled the world in decadent style. After their soothsayer/cleaning woman Cassandra (E. Faye Butler) warns Vanya and Sonia of impending doom, Masha arrives unannounced, accompanied by her hunky young lover Spike (Jordan Brown), who sparks a friendship with the beautiful girl next door Nina (Rebecca Buller) much to Masha's dismay. When Masha reveals plans that will upend the family, long-repressed resentments bubble over in a weekend full of wild costume parties, voodoo dolls and surprise romance. The creative team includes Charlie Corcoran (sets), Amy Clark (costumes), Robert Perry (lights) andRichard Woodbury (sound). Alden Vasquez is the production stage manager and Neena Arndt is the dramaturg. 

Everyone's favorite upside-down fairytale comes to Bill Hanney's award-winning North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) when they present SHREK The Musical, a song-and dance-filled stage adaptation of the Oscar-winning DreamWorks animated film. The world of fairytales will be turned upside down in an all singing, all dancing, and irresistible mix of adventure, laughter and romance beginning July 7, playing thru Sunday, July 19. Playwright Wendy Graf (No Word In Guyanese for Me) explores the journey of an 'all American girl' (Annika Marksand Jeanne Syquia, alternating) as she develops from innocent youth to radicalized extremist. Anita Khanzadian directs the world premiere of All American Girl for InterACT Theatre Company, which opened July 3 at the Lounge Theatre in Hollywood.

Episode 7 of Emma Buchanan and Evatt Salinger's video blog for BroadwayWorld on the way to the National High School Musical Theatre Awards in New York. Buchanan and Salinger, of Durango High School, last month were named Outstanding Actress and Actor at the 2015 Bobby G Awards at the Denver Center. They advance to the national competition, which culminates with a performance on a Broadway stage for The Jimmy Awards in New York City. In this episode, Buchanan and Salinger discuss their experiences rehearsing the opening and closing numbers as well as performing in front of the judges.

Evatt Salinger and Emma Buchanan of Durango High School, who last month were named Outstanding Actor and Actress at the 2015 Bobby G Awards at the Buell Theatre, have represented Colorado this past weekend at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, which culminate tonight (June 29) with announcement of national winners - and a performance by all participants on a Broadway stage in New York City.
