The Pulitzer Prize-winning play A Streetcar Named Desire follows the story of Blanche DuBois, a weak and disturbed woman on a desperate prowl for some place in the world to call her own. After losing their ancestral home, Belle Reve, Blanche shows up at the doorstep of her sister, Stella, in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Putting on airs of refinement and Southern gentility, Blanche tries to impress her brother-in-law, and his gentle, good-natured friend, Mitch. Seeking to escape from reality, and an emblem of a lost traditional South, Blanche becomes a victim of the harsh present. Marlon Brando starred in the Broadway production and the 4-time Academy Award-winning film adaptation. This will mark the 65th Anniversary of this enduring Tennessee Williams classic.

Based on Anthol Fugard's early life in South Africa, 'MASTER HAROLD'...and the boys tells the story of Willie and Sam, two black waiters who work in the St. George's Park Tea Room, and Hally, the tea room owner's son. Hally has known Willie and Sam all his life, and is very fond of them both; however, on one rainy day in 1950 their wide-ranging discussions illustrate all that unites us and the gulf that still divides us. Considered to be one of Fugard's greatest pieces, '"Master Harold"…and the boys" tells the universal story of human relationships that are put to the test by societal and personal forces.

The sixth and final concert series in The Palm Beach Pops' 20th Anniversary Season, The Magic of Broadway and Disney Favorites will feature Broadway stars Lea Salonga, Tony and Drama Desk Winner, best known as the singing voice in Disney movies and for her leading roles in Miss Saigon and Les Miserables, and 2007 Helen Hayes Award winner David Burnham of Wicked. This breathtaking new production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's SOUTH PACIFIC is based on the 2008 Tony Award® winning Lincoln Center Theater production, directed by Bartlett Sher. CHITA RIVERA March 20-24 & 27-31 Two Time Tony Award winner Chita Rivera will perform songs from her legendary Broadway career with an intimate evening of music in Chita Rivera: My Broadway. Accompanied by her longtime musical trio, led by musical director Michael Croiter, Ms. Rivera will perform selections from her most celebrated musicals, including numbers from West Side Story ("America"), Sweet Charity ("Where Am I Going?" and "Big Spender"), Chicago ("All That Jazz" and "Nowadays"), Kiss of the Spider Woman, Bye, Bye, Birdie and The Rink, and featuring the music of Leonard Bernstein, John Kander & Fred Ebb, Charles Strouse, Stephen Sondheim and Cy Coleman among others.

South Florida theater fans are in for an array of Broadway hits as the awesomely cool, ROCK OF AGES, opens the all musical Broadway in Miami 2012 - 2013 season at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami Dade County. Scheduled to launch the season with a bang, from October 9-14, ROCK OF AGES will be followed by the high-stepping Broadway Musical for the entire family, MARY POPPINS, set to bring in the New Year, January 1-6; the return of the world's greatest musical, LES MISÉRABLES, in a brand new 25th anniversary production, February 26 - March 3; the outlandishly colorful PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT will keep audiences on their feet with its parade of dance-floor favorites, April 2-7; and Best Musical Tony Winner of 2010 MEMPHIS will make its triumphant Miami debut with its explosive dancing and powerhouse songs, May 7-12.

In 1929, Paramount won the only Best Picture Oscar given to a silent movie for Wings. Once the studio added sound, it was the songs in its films that soared.
