A native of Corona, California, and the eldest of six children, Ashley Timm worked as a Human Recourses Manager at Target for five years prior to enlisting in the Navy in September 2009 as an Operations Specialist (OS). Her first tour of duty was with the Forward Deployed Amphibious Readiness Group in Sasebo, Japan, stationed on the USS Tortuga (LSD-46). While stationed in Japan from 2010-2013, OS2 Timm aided in relief efforts after the devastating earthquake in Tokyo of March 2011, by spending sleepless nights communicating with helicopter pilots to ensure provisions and emergency assistance were provided to those in need. Her determined efforts during Operation Tomodachi earned OS2 Timm her first Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
After her tour in Japan, OS2 Timm started a two year rotation to NSA Bahrain in 2013 with Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing Five Seven. During her time in Bahrain OS2 Timm served as the Current Operations Assistant Leading Petty Officer and earned the title of Junior Sailor of the Year for 2014. She also co-spearheaded a base wide training program for Sexual Assault Awareness Month 2015. Other accomplishments while with Commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing FIVE SEVEN include, Junior Enlisted Association President, Morale Welfare and Recreation Representative and Diversity Committee Event Coordinator.
In July 2015, OS2 Timm began her first shore rotation with Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, and in July 2018 she will be beginning her transition to New York as a Naval Recruiter.
Her personal awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Four Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and various other unit awards. OS2 Timm is currently pursuing her degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis on Sexual Assault Awareness.
