Center Theatre Group's production of 'Amelie, A New Musical' at the Ahmanson Theatre opened December 16 and continues through January 15, 2017. Based on the motion picture written by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Guillaume Laurant, 'Amelie, A New Musical' will have its Broadway premiere at the Walter Kerr Theatre, beginning performances on March 9, 2017 and opening April 3, 2017.

Hot on the heels of The Maccabeats, Jewish a cappella group Six13 has just released a cover video of several Hamilton songs, using Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical as a backdrop for telling the story of Chanukah. Introduced by no less than President Obama himself, the video covers 'The Story of Tonight,' 'Alexander Hamilton,' and 'My Shot,' the new song lyrics tell the story of Judah Maccabee and how he led the Hebrews to victory against the Greeks.

This week on SNL, Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton (Kate McKinnon) came out of the woods to visit a US Elector and remind her of that all-important task this holiday season: keeping Donald Trump from becoming President. Inspired by the movie Love Actually, Clinton employed a series of notecards to silently go through all the reasons Trump must be stopped when the electoral college votes on December 19th. Clinton even tells the elector that she doesn't have to vote her, suggesting John Kasich, Zendaya, and Tom Hanks as worthy alternatives.

Perhaps Natalie Portman's long-overdue return to the Great White Way should be as the star of a musical. Portman proved her acting chops at an early age, making her Broadway debut as the titular character in a revival of The Diary of Anne Frank, on a recent visit to The Late Late Show, host James Corden revealed that Portman was a musical child prodigy as well.

Sutton Foster's start on Broadway is the real-life version of the stuff movie musicals are made of; one week before the opening of Throughly Modern Millie on Broadway, Foster received a call from director Michael Mayer, bumping her up from understudy to the star of the show—and the rest is musical theatre history. This morning, Foster sat down with CBS' Mo Rocca to chat about her journey as a Broadway actress, and her current starring roles in TV Land's Younger and The New Group's Sweet Charity. When speaking about the latter, in reference to recovering from her divorce several years ago, Foster said, “What's interesting is that I know [Charity], because I think I have been her, but luckily, I don't feel like I'm her now.”

America's favorite meth-making high school teacher, Walter White (Bryan Cranston), appeared on SNL's cold open with Jake Tapper (Beck Bennett) and Kellyanne Conway (Kate McKinnon) last night to announce his return to the land of the living for the most unlikely-well, in this current political climate, perhaps not the most unlikely-of reasons: Donald Trump has nominated him to be the head of the national Drug Enforcement Administration. According to White, he and Trump 'Agree: it's time to 'Make America Cook Again.' [They] wanna fill this nation with red, white, and a whole lotta blue.' When discussing resistance he might face to his appointment considering his lack of political experience, White acquiesced that Congress 'might get hung up on the fact that [he] faked his own death; [he's] only the third person in the Trump cabinet to do that.'
