Free Night of Theater, the amazing nation-wide event, will celebrate its 5th Anniversary this year. The newly formed Small Theatre Alliance of Boston (S.T.A.B.) has taken over producing duties of FeverFest, the annual summer festival started by Whistler in the Dark, exploring diverse styles and bringing together disparate artists from the small stages of Boston. Now in its fourth year, the festival moves across the river to the Factory Theatre.

On the Main Stage at Williamstown Theatre Festival is True West, by Sam Shepard, directed by former Boris Sagal Directing Fellow Daniel Goldstein (Walmartopia, Godspell). True West opened July 15 and runs through July 26, 2009.

FORBIDDEN BROADWAY is a runaway hit at London's Menier Chocolate Factory, where the show opened for a twelve-week run on July 2 to raves and crowds. The legendary theatrical lampoon, which ended (at least for the time being) its 27-year New York run on March 1, has been retooled for London and restaged for the Menier Chocolate Factory by creator Gerard Alessandrini and long-time collaborator Phillip George.

Maine State Music Theatre's third show of the 2009 season is the delightfully deceptive 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.' This Tony Award winning musical is based on the film of the same name and includes music and lyrics by David Yazbek, composer and lyricist of 'The Full Monty', and a book by Jeffrey Lane. In addition to the familiar story line, the musical boasts witty lyrics with a side of harmless adult humor.

Cortland Repertory Theatre will serve up 'arresting' laughs with the New York State professional premiere of the cop comedy 'Unnecessary Farce' by Paul Slade Smith, which runs from July 22 - August 1.

A live concert recording of the New York Philharmonic's performance of Mahler's Symphony No. 1 conducted by Alan Gilbert will be available for streaming on the Orchestra's Website, nyphil.org, through July 31, 2009.
