The Swedish King Gustaf III. enjoys great popularity, the majority of the nobility as well as the people. Only the count Horn, Warting and their followers seek him life. Count René Ankarström, the most faithful friend of the King, and facing an audience, Gustaf on the conspiracy plans the count Horn and Warting.
