The pirate of Simone Boccanegra can choose using peons to the Doge of Genoa. He believes that in this position of the patrician Jacopo Fiesco no longer could refuse the hand of his daughter Maria - Boccanegra mistress and mother of his daughter - him. But Maria dies, Fiesco swears revenge, Boccanegra unless this return him from his granddaughter. But, the girl passed the care of a nurse, has disappeared.The fate of Boccanegra daughter clears up 20 years later. She was inducted as a foundling Amelia in the House of Grimaldi and loves the patrician Gabriele Adorno. Boccangera pauses to hand for Paolo, who became mittlerweie of his Chancellor, with her. As father and daughter recognize each other, he abandons this plan however. Paolo is outraged and kidnap Amelia what however is thwarted by Adorno. While he Senate meets d he enters the Chamber and will throw themselves on Boccanegra as alleged instigators of this kidnapping. Amelia but throws himself in between. Boccanegra who believed behind the kidnapping, Paolo prompts them to pronounce the curse of the criminal. Paolo does not pay off, where he poisoned Boccanegra nightcap. Also Adorno seeks Doge for life, because Paolo claims this is Amelia's lover. But again occurs between Amelia and reveals that Adorno now as Boccanegra's daughter. When the patrician be used to overthrow of the Doge, Adorno Boccanegra party will take. The rebellion is put down, Paolo sentenced to death, but already affects its poison. Dying, Boccanegra with Fiesco, who learns that Amelia is his granddaughter reconciled...
