The Grail King Amfortas went out to fight against Klingsor. He had who applied for admission into the Grail community and for even castrated themselves, in order to meet the stringent requirement of chastity. But the Knights of the Grail came back to him, now he seeks their destruction. Kundry, who had once laughed at Jesus on the cross and since restless wandering through the ages, misled the advancing Amfortas on behalf of Klingsor's. This Klinsor snatched him the Holy spear, with Jesus on the cross was been pierced and which together with the chalice from which it drank at the last supper, is the sanctuary of the Grail. With this spear, Klingsor, Amfortas inflicted a grievous wound which again can be cured only by just this spear. But this needs it back to only in the possession of the Knights of the Grail. But can perform a "pure goal" only "knowing through compassion".
Parsifal is appears in the Grail. There is able to penetrate only who is called to the service of the Grail. After painstaking long wandering, Parsifal achieved the Grail area on a good Friday and meets Gurnemanz. Even Kundry is present, that receives the baptism of Parsifal. In the Grail Castle, Parsifal, Amfortas' wound heals and becomes new Grail King.
