During a Tempest, Otello, the colourful Commander of the Venetian fleet, returns as Victor over the Turks in Cyprus. Jago, his Ensign, seeks revenge, because he was passed over for promotion to captain in favor of Cassio. He rushes Roderigo against Cassio and makes them drunk, so that it comes to the dispute between the two men. A commotion arises, which mediate Otello. He degrades Cassio and Associates peace. Only he and Desdemona is left behind, together they sing of their happiness.
Iago advises the oppressed Cassio to ask Desdemona to intercede in Otello. While Cabrera before Desdemona, Iago Otello jealousy fuels. When she asks her husband to pardon Cassio, he reacts angrily.
