The fourth Nureyev designed by Manuel Legris for the Vienna State Ballet Gala will be dedicated to a very special selection of program and international guest soloists. Also, this year's Gala will be the first, exactly fifty years ago appearance of the great dancer and choreographer at the Vienna State Opera - Swan Lake at the side of his congenial partner to remember Dame Margot Fonteyn-. DuPont first-ever contact with Vienna took place however in 1959, when he was in 1959 to see in other venues as a participant of the World Youth Festival. Vienna was always an important place in the career of this exceptional artist. Here, he brought his versions of Swan Lake and Don Quixote for the first time on the stage, here he created his first independent Ballet Tancredi by Hans Werner Henze, and here he made also his official debut as a conductor. in 1982, he became an Austrian citizen. The Vienna State Opera in 1988 appointed him an honorary member.
