Already for the third time in the era of Manuel Legris as Director of the Vienna State Ballet, one decides "Nureyev Gala" the Ballet season at the Vienna State Opera. The year's output of this ballet event is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of birthday and the 20th anniversary of the death of the great dancer and choreographer.
Grew up in the Bashkir Ufa, trained in Leningrad and engaged at the Kirov Ballet, Nureyev began a career that ranks among the most spectacular of the Theatre after his 1961 made sensational "bounce" in the West.
Almost 25 years Nureyev involved - as a dancer, but also as a producer of classics like "Swan Lake", "Don Quixote", "Sleeping beauty" and "Raymonda" also the Vienna Ballet. Vienna was also the venue for his debut as a choreographer of his first "Tancredi" intrinsically creative ballet to music by Hans Werner Henze. in 1982, Nureyev of an Austrian citizen became an honorary member of the Vienna State Opera, 1988.
An important section in Dupont career began with the order to the Director of the Opéra National de Paris exactly 30 years ago. The Paris dancers which were particularly encouraged by Nureyev, was Manuel Legris. As Director of the Vienna State Ballet Manuel Legris now based on the model of his mentor in many ways.
