In a somewhat neglected Castle, Don Magnifico, Baron of Montefiascone, lives with two daughters and a stepdaughter. While Clorinda and synopsis are nothing more than idleness, plaster and dance in your head, Angelina (Cenerentola) must use their half sisters and make the complete household chores. One day she, very and displeasure of Tisbes and Clorindas, which was Ballad of the King's son, went out to look for a bride, but equal to three candidates and finally for those decided who had a good heart sings.

Schließlich gelingt es Don Magnificos Redeschwall zu unterbrechen um ihm den fürstlichen Besuch und die Einladung mitzuteilen. Hochbeglückt findet Don Magnifico seine Traumdeutung zumindest in Ansätzen bestätigt.

Prinz Don Ramiro tritt als einfacher Kammerdiener verkleidet auf. Zu diesem Rollenspiel riet ihm sein Lehrer, der Philosoph Alidoro, der bereits zuvor als der Mitleid heischende Bettler die Lage ausgekundschaftet hatte.
Angelina und Ramiro verlieben sich auf Anhieb ineinander. Als der junge Mann von Angelina wissen möchte, wer sie denn eigentlich sei, erhält er die Auskunft, dass Don Magnifico nicht ihr wahrer Vater wäre, sondern nur jener der beiden Halbschwestern.
Ramiro kann sich nicht erklären, warum ein so liebliches Mädchen in Lumpen herumlaufen muss.
Die Kavaliere des Prinzen geleiten den verkleideten Dandini, den Kammerdiener Don Ramiros herein, der auf dessen Befehl als Fürst auftritt. Durch diese Maskerade hofft Ramiro, die wahren Absichten der einzelnen Heiratskandidatinnen durchschauen zu können.
