Francesco Bartolomeo Conti began his career from his hometown of Florence than theorbist - a highly successful career that in 1723 the honorary title of "First theorbist the world" brought him. 1701 he arrived in the court orchestra of the Emperor in Vienna. This quite honorable position was his only springboard to greater creative work: When traveling, he attended a compositionally, 1713 made him Charles VI. Finally the court composer. The tragicommedia Don Chisciotte in Sierra Morena came for the carnival in 1719 and maintains as a parody of the serious operas that time. Don Chisciotte, who has appointed himself the knight-errant, and has set out to accomplish imaginary exploits, should be brought to his senses by his friends again; Incidentally, even the love of confusion of two pairs to solve. Finally, the comical bird Don Chisciotte can be done only in a cage home - whether that's a happy ending, however, remains questionable. The music is played with the Don Chisciottes dream world, at least charming and modern than its tamer.
