Jazz pianist Joe Chindamo and violinist Zoe Black come together in "Music By The Sea," set for Sandgate Town Hall, 7 July 2012, at 7.30pm.

Joe Chindamo ranks amongst the world's best jazz pianists and composers. Joe is an artist who has done it all. He has performed and recorded with the best such as Billy Cobham, James Morrison, Don Borrows, Shirley Bassey, Anne Sophie von Otter, Ricky Lee Jones, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Yvonne Kenny and Olivia Newton John, and worked on more than 60 film soundtracks.

Formally from Firebird Trio, Zoe Black is the perfect partner to Joe’s virtuosic pianistic elegance and unique compositional and arranging gifts. Together they create a unique sonic world without boundaries.

This exciting new collaboration between two celebrated Melbourne artists from different worlds promises to be tempestuous, passionate and romantic. The repertoire is drawn from eclectic and sometimes unlikely sources, from Mozart, Bach, Couperin, Chopin to Dolly Parton, skillfully arranged by pianist/composer, a jazz giant, Chindamo, who adds his own compositions to the mix.

The meeting of these two artists manages to combine many genres into a new, genre defying definition. We hear a violinist and a pianist, not a classical violinist and a jazz pianist, and the sum is music that expresses a directness of expression.
