Wit Incorporated Introduces Month of Super Clean Up Action to Accompany A HERO'S GUIDE TO SAVING THE PLANET
By: Julie Musbach
By 2050 will there be more plastic in the ocean than fish? Not if local superheroes have anything to say about it. wit incorporated theatre company brings the city a Month of Super Clean Up Action.
Starting on Saturday 24 June and continuing through July, there are events every week for the whole family to be involved with. On Saturday 24 June, everyone is invited to dress in their best superhero outfit and join characters from "A Hero's Guide to Saving the Planet" as they use their trash-picker-upping superpowers to clean up the streets of Footscray. "We're inviting families to get their own capes on, come along and join us, as we pick up and sort out the litter on our streets," says wit incorporated Artistic Director Belinda Campbell. "The pick up will start outside Footscray Station on Irving St, and conclude at Saigon Welcome Arch on Leeds St." On 1 July, action really heats up, as the team at wit incorporated challenge everyone in City of Maribyrnong to take part in Plastic Free July. 1 July also marks the opening of the world premiere of "A Hero's Guide to Saving the Planet", a superhero adventure story for all ages. Complete with silly jokes, gags, epic ukulele songs, this play follows the quest of Captain Eco and Susan as the journey through superhero training and saving the world from The Waster. "The show is here to help educate and inspire audiences to change up wasteful behaviour. As well as being full of useful information, it's a huge amount of silliness and fun," says Campbell. The show runs until 15 July, with shows at 10 am and 1 pm Wednesday to Sunday. Families of two adults, two children or one adult, three children, can get a special family ticket for $70 by emailing hello@witinc.com.au.Month of Super Clean Up Action events
