VELVET To Dazzle Melbourne Audiences For An Additional Week Image

After opening to rave reviews and audience acclaim, the ARIA nominated and award-winning hit show VELVET has announced, due to popular demand, a one week extension to its Melbourne season at The Palms at Crown, and will now run until Sunday 9 July. Melbourne audiences will be able to purchase tickets for the additional performances from 21 June at ticketmaster.com.au.

The Melbourne season opened on 9th June 2017 to extraordinary reviews with Theatre People giving the divine discotheque "5 stars" and calling it "seamless event entertainment of the highest order". Australian Arts Review called it "a crowd-pleasing spectacular that confounds expectations and delivers on all accounts." Of Disco Queen Marcia Hines, the Herald Sun said that "On a vocal level, the show belongs to Hines - her rich voice never missing a beat and texturing songs", with Broadway World agreeing, stating that Marcia is as "legendary as ever with the voice that earned her the Queen of Pop title and remains that strong today".

Director Craig Ilott has created a hedonistic world, pitting dazzling acrobatics against disco divas as this sexy, spectacular, sparkling and slightly sadomasochistic show channels the original Studio 54 nightclub. The international ensemble of circus, cabaret and music talent includes dreamy muscle man Stephen Williams, hula boy extraordinaire Craig Reid, acrobatic wunderkind Mirko Köckenberger, sizzling aerialist Emma Goh, actor/singer Tom Oliver who plays the young ingénue who slips behind the red velvet rope at the glamorous nightclub that is VELVET; Kaylah Attard and Rechelle Mansour as the two sassy sirens, and musical director and mix master Joe Accaria, alongside the legendary diva Marcia Hines.

VELVET shocks, surprises and scintillates at every turn. It's a party, it's electrifying, and its exhilarating disco soundtrack never lets up from the opening moment. Each performance invites the audience into an intoxicating glitterball world where the performers and the audience walk the fine line between the romantic and the audacious. VELVET is a fantastic sensory overload - funky, fresh, fun and sexy.
