Based on Broadway Backwards, The Benge Group's Twisted Broadway is playing for one night only on Monday July 18 at the BMW Edge at Federation Square. The show features a cast of 50  performers from Rock of Ages, Wicked, Love Never Dies, Next to Normal Mary Poppins and many others. The concept is unique and fun with performers singing songs originally written for the opposite gender.

However, producer Daniel Benge is quick to point out that the show is not drag. 'We have some incredible performers in our cast and they are very competitive. Songs are in the original keys so to hear The Wizard and I being belted out by a man is amazing.' This will be Twisted Broadway's second year with 100% of the proceeds going to Oz Showbiz Cares/Equity Fights Aids. Benge explains that 'last year we raised $5000 for the charity and this year we anticipate raising $15000.'

Benge hopes that Twisted Broadway becomes a fixture in the Australian Musical Theatre calender and anticipates taking the show interstate to Sydney and Adelaide next year on the back of its exponential success in Melbourne. Musical Director James Simpson has arranged  32 show tunes including  ensemble numbers, trios, duets and a variety of solo performances for the diverse cast and band who are presently in rehearsal between performances of their own shows. That coupled with dance and choreography all point to a hugely successful night benefitting an extremely important cause.

Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com.au.
