The Butterfly Club Presents ROCKY THE THIRD

Rocky the Third is a Shakespearean reimagining of the classic 80's film, Rocky 3. Two 'travelling players' attempt to bring to life all the characters and transform one of cinemas most inarticulate figures into one of Shakespeare's most verbose heroes in this heavyweight epic.

Whether you love him, hate him, or have no feelings at all for the Italian Stallion, this show will take you on a Shakespearean rollercoaster that will delight and amaze you. All the poetic language of the Bard infused with all the brutal poetry of boxing. A must see for all fans of comedy and/or Shakespeare and/or Rocky and/or watching two performers play multiple roles in multiple wigs.

This show is the brain child of Rik Brown, long time workhorse of the Melbourne Improv scene and performer of many a festival show, and features Bridget Metherall in a powerhouse performance of comedic brilliance. When Rik was asked what motivated him to bring this show to life he said: "I knew the moment I first watched Rocky 3 that the Shakespearean drama already present in the film was begging to be go the Full Bard."

Bridget Metherall has been performing steadily since 1996 and has graced numerous festivals in Australia and New Zealand. She most recently fronted several seasons of Impro Melbourne's Late Night Comedy Festival shows at the Melbourne Town Hall, lending her steady mind and comedic flair to this ever popular festival staple.

Rik has been an Actor and Improvisor for the past 20 odd years, since graduating from Rusden in 1996. He has taught and performed improvisation throughout Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore, Italy, Germany and The Netherlands. He has featured in the television shows Comedy Slapdown, Utopia Season 1 & 2, SlideShow, Prank Patrol, It's a Date and How To Stay Married. He also pops up on the TV trying to sell you things, from Fox Footy Channels to TicTacs and from Worksafe initiatives to Nissan X-trails, his face is proven to make you want to buy stuff.

He recently won BEST IMPROV SHOW at the 2017 Nelson Fringe Festival for his show "The Rabbit Hole"
