THE LAST WALTZ REVISITED Set for Arts Centre Melbourne
A wise man once said it's better to burn out than to fade away. On Thanksgiving Day in 1976, the American rock group The Band went out in a blaze of glory, performing their legendary farewell concert The Last Waltz.
This December, members of The RocKwiz Orchestra and MC Brian Nankervis will revisit this significant rock and roll music event by bringing The Last Waltz Revisited to the State Theatre at Arts Centre Melbourne with a stellar line-up paying tribute to The Band.
Special guests Tim Rogers, Dan Sultan, Marlon Williams, Olympia, Vika and Linda Bull and Kevin Borich will join forces to stage this very special event.
Originally held at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco as The Band's farewell concert, The Last Waltz brought together rock and roll royalty to pay tribute to everyone's favourite band. Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell, Eric Clapton, Neil Young and Muddy Waters were amongst those who joined The Band on stage to perform an incredible variety of well-known and cult hits.
Also filmed as a documentary by Martin Scorsese and released two years later, The Last Waltz has developed legendary status as a concert, an event and a movie.
Join some of Australia's finest and most respected musicians as they recreate this defining live concert experience with The Last Waltz Revisited in the impressive State Theatre at Arts Centre Melbourne this December.
