Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes and Dirty Beasts, a spectacular new live show combining two of his most famous and best-loved rhyming storybooks, will make its world premiere at La Boite's Roundhouse Theatre these school holidays from 8 to 18 January.

A co-production between La Boite and shake & stir, Revolting Rhymes and Dirty Beasts takes the familiar stories of Cinderella, The Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks, and several unsuspecting animals, and transforms them with surprising and hilarious results. Think they all live happily ever after? Think again!

La Boite Artistic Director David Berthold said the new show continues the company's tradition of presenting theatrical works for especially for young people.

"Earlier this year La Boite teamed up with shake & stir for some slimy silliness in Out Damn Snot, and we've also had tremendous fun presenting The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child in recent times," Mr Berthold said.

"Roald Dahl is one of the most successful children's writers in the world. His stories have captured the imagination of millions of kids everywhere, and I can't wait to see how shake & stir brings the clever and cheeky material of Revolting Rhymes and Dirty Beasts to life," he said.

Children will also be able to participate in two-day holiday workshops run by shake & stir during the season, in which they will see the show, meet the actors and enjoy energetic drama activities led by shake & stir
instructors.

Directed by shake & stir's Ross Balbuziente, and starring Nick Skubij, Nelle Lee, Judy Hainsworth and Leon Cain, Revolting Rhymes and Dirty Beasts is the first show announced in La Boite's 2014 season. Tickets for the show are now on sale at laboite.com.au or on (07) 3007 8600. http://www.laboite.com.au/cms/page.asp?ID=120
