A riveting new show from subversive creator/performer Nicola Gunn, Piece for Person and Ghetto Blaster is the story of a man, a woman and a duck - it is about the excruciating realms of human behaviour and an attempt to navigate the complexities of trying to become a better person.

Riffing from personal stories, conflict resolution studies and a desire to answer the question 'why throw stones at a sitting duck?', Piece for Person and Ghetto Blaster tries to understand how we can all get along.

Preoccupied by how social conventions obstruct the possibility of personal liberation, Piece for Person and Ghetto Blaster is a duet between physical action and spoken language, setting up a space for dialogue.

Calling into question our capacity to make moral judgments and relate to others in an ethical way, the work faces a difficult conclusion: there's little hope for the future, unless we confront our own responsibilities to make it better.

Commissioned by Mobile States, and created with choreographer Jo Lloyd and composer Kelly Ryall, Piece for Person and Ghetto Blaster is a dialogue between the politics of peace and personal betterment.

A Melbourne-based live artist and performance maker, Gunn creates work that blends participatory performance, live art, video and installation to explore the fragility of the human condition with subversive humour.

Gunn's process often starts with written text or an idea imagined, responding to an impulse to tell a story or explore a form - she draws mainly from her experience to create autobiographical fiction.

As a performer collaborator, Gunn recently premiered A Social Service at Matlhouse Theatre to critical acclaim and has worked with Tamara Saulwick, Ridiculusmus, The Rabble, and Ian Pidd/Jessica Wilson/Bec Reid; and as a dramaturge and outside eye, she has worked with writer Emilie Collyer, Peepshow Inc., No Show and choreographers Jo Lloyd and Shian Law.
