National Gallery of Victoria Celebrates NAIDOC Week 2014, Now thru 7/12
As part of NAIDOC Week 2014, the NGV will celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures with its first NGV Culture Camp for teens and a live(ly) performance by the SKIN Choir.
Held over four days, the NGV Culture Camp is a school holiday program which allows teens to explore Indigenous art, dance, theatre and music. Artists and performers have been selected to host workshops each day, providing participants the opportunity to meet and engage with them, as well as other like-minded teens.
The program will take the following structure:
Tues 8 Jul: Music - SKIN Choir
Wed 9 Jul: Visual Art - Jonathan Jones
Thu 10 Jul: Theatre - Melodie Reynolds-Diarra
Fri 11 Jul: Dance - Nikki Ashby
Then! On Saturday 12 July, join the SKIN Choir for a special NAIDOC Week performance as they share their perspective on what it means to be Indigenous in modern Australia, with songs about cultural identity and living with mainstream stereotyping.
