Magic Steven to Bring I'M PROUD OF YOU to Southbank Theatre

By:

Following a string of successful shows across Europe, Australia and New Zealand, Magic Steven returns to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival with his new show "I'm Proud of You" for three nights only at Southbank Theatre, April 12 - 14. Sharing some of his most recent personal experiences, as recorded by him in an ongoing series of pocket notebooks, Magic Steven's performances are sometimes awkward, often profound and always hilarious. This daily writing practice is maintained by Magic Steven, with extreme attention to detail, in an attempt to treat each experience he has, as a lesson... and thereby grow, as a person. Come and grow with Magic Steven...

With a wholly unique performance style, which has been alternately described as autobiographical storytelling, deadpan comedy, guided meditation, long-form beat poetry, lecture performance and non-traditional stand-up, Magic Steven's shows are impossible to explain... but easy to enjoy.

"Comedy gold." The Age

"I couldn't really tell if I was laughing with him, at him or at myself." Three Thousand

"This deadpan, under-the-radar comedy of storytelling ascends to a superlative estimation of the conditions of human connection." Peril Magazine

A Melbourne-based spoken-word performer, Magic Steven has presented unique pieces of work at the last two Melbourne Comedy Festivals, as well as Melbourne Fringe. In 2015 he performed at MONA's Dark Mofo Festival in Hobart, Tasmania, and opened for legendary British musician Richard Dawson as part of iconic local festival, Liquid Architecture.

After several months spent travelling and taking notes in the lead up to this festival, the brand new I'M PROUD OF YOU promises to be Magic Steven's most refined, hilarious and unpredictable show yet.
