Melbourne's The Age is reporting today that despite twice-cancelled run of LOVE NEVER DIES on Broadway this season, a run of the show is likely to hit Melbourne by mid-2011.

The Age reports: "The composer's Production Company, Really Useful, is to make an announcement in Parliament House next Tuesday that is expected to confirm six months of speculation that Melbourne has snared yet another national premiere.

It coincides with news that one of the most successful shows that Melbourne has seen, Mary Poppins, is closing next March despite hosting near capacity audiences since opening at Her Majesty's in July."

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, it was widely speculated that LOVE NEVER DIES director Jack O'Brien and choreographer Jerry Mitchell had left the production to focus on CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, which is officially confirmed to open at the Neil Simon Theatre this spring. It is expected that LOVE NEVER DIES will also be hitting Toronto with different teams in place here and in Melbourne. No specific dates, timelines or names for casting or creative have been revealed.

The West End's production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's LOVE NEVER DIES has extended ticket sales through March 2011. The show opened at the Adelphi Theatre in London on March 9, 2010.

The principal characters of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA continue their stories in Andrew Lloyd Webber's LOVE NEVER DIES. 10 years after the mysterious disappearance of The Phantom from the Paris Opera House, Christine Daaé accepts an offer to come to America and perform at New York's fabulous new playground of the world - Coney Island. Christine arrives in New York with her husband Raoul and their son Gustave. She soon discovers the identity of the anonymous impresario who has lured her from France to sing.
