Kenny Broberg To Perform In Melbourne And Sydney

American pianist Kenny Broberg is set to return to Australia for two special recitals, presented by the Sydney International Piano Competition (The Sydney), in Melbourne on August 21st and Sydney on September 8th.

Broberg is an extraordinary young artist who, at the age of 25, already has an impressive number of awards under his belt. He was recently a grand finalist and was awarded Third Prize at the 2019 International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow, which compliments his Silver Medal win at the 2017 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and Fourth Prize at The Sydney in 2016.

Broberg's performances in Melbourne and Sydney feature a program including Bach's Prelude and Fugue in A-flat Major, Beethoven's Sonata No.31 in A-flat Major Op.110, Chopin's Fantaisie in F minor Op.49, Franck's Prélude, Fugue et Variation Op.18 (arranged for piano by Bauer), and Medtner's Sonata in E minor Op.25 Night Wind.

Broberg commenced his piano studies at the age of six. Nine years later, he continued his studies at the Moores School of Music (University of Houston), where he completed his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance under Professor Nancy Weems. He is currently studying for a Master in Piano Performance at the International Center for Music, Park University under Professor Stanislav Ioudenitch.

His most recent concerto performances have been with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, the Houston Ballet Orchestra and the Seattle Symphony. He has also appeared with the Minnesota Orchestra, the Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra, the Southwest Minnesota Orchestra, and the New Orleans Civic Symphony, among others.

Broberg said, "I'm thrilled to come back to Australia for these concerts to share some of the great piano repertoire with audiences. My experience at The Sydney 2016 fills me great memories and I can not wait to play again for Australian audiences. The Sydney has truly helped springboard my career trajectory over the last few years which I am so grateful for and I'm pleased to be offered this unique opportunity to tour in your wonderful country."

Artistic Director for The Sydney, Piers Lane AO said, "Kenny is undoubtedly one of the world's finest young pianists, evidenced not only by his 2016 prize in Sydney and his 2017 Van Cliburn second prize, but by his winning Third Prize from a pool of fierce competitors in the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition just last month. We're truly excited to bring him to Sydney and Melbourne as part of his debut national tour with a program that will highlight his remarkable talent."
