Julia Stone to Compose Soundtrack for RED LINE at Old Fitz Theatre

Red Line Productions today announced that Australian singer and songwriter Julia Stone will compose the soundtrack for their 2016 production of Metamorphoses. Based on the myths of Ovid, Metamorphoses was written and originally directed by Mary Zimmerman, and will be directed by Andrew Henry as part of the Old Fitz Theatre 2016. It will play from 11 May to 11 June, 2016.

Julia Stone has released two solo albums, The Memory Machine in 2010 and By the Horns in 2012. She enjoyed five ARIAs and triple platinum sales for the siblings' 2010 number one LP, Down The Way as part of Angus & Julia Stone, who have released three studio albums. Julia will be touring with Fleetwood Mac as part of Angus and Julia Stone in the coming months.

This will be the first time Julia has composed for a theatre production. She said, "'I'm really excited to create the soundtrack for this show. It's been something I've wanted to do for a while; even from when I was a kid, and used to play piano with the sound down watching Blade Runner, making sounds for the stories."

Called by Time magazine the "Theater event of the year," Mary Zimmerman's Metamorphoses brings Ovid's tales to stunning visual life. Set in and around a large pool of water onstage, the play juxtaposes the ancient and the contemporary in both language and image to reflect the variety and persistence of narrative in the face of inevitable change.

Critics hailed Zimmerman's play as "Enchanting... Lyrical... Serenely alluring" (Washington Post) and "Magical and Fascinating" (Talkin' Broadway). DC Theatre Scene said, "Prepare to be mesmerized ... Reminds us of the power of theatre to cleanse, renew, fulfil and ultimately transform us", while DC Metro Theater Arts gave the production five stars "(ten stars if we had them)".

The full Old Fitz Theatre program for the first six months of 2016 will be announced on 2 November.
