Much Ado About Nothing, featuring one of the largest casts that Black Swan State Theatre Company audiences have seen for some time, just got much bigger! For each performance, the cast of 14 will be joined by up to ten First Year WAAPA Acting students who will appear in the two large-scale dance scenes in the play.

With up to 24 actors on stage, this Black Swan production of Much Ado About Nothing, directed by Black Swan's Artistic Director Kate Cherry, promises to be a real feast for all senses - and your heart and soul!

Much Ado About Nothing is one of Shakespeare's greatest comedies. This joyous romp celebrates brave soldiers returning triumphant from the battlefield only to find themselves bewildered by love. At a masked ball, heroic warrior Claudio falls for beautiful Hero, daughter of Leonato, while Benedick engages in verbal sparring matches with feisty Beatrice. Will Claudio and Hero be happily married, or will scoundrels successfully conspire against them? Could Benedick and Beatrice's aversion transform itself into affection?

Kate Cherry said: "Much Ado About Nothing is one of my favourite Shakespeare plays because Beatrice and Benedick are such fierce, joyful outsiders who together, through the power of their union arrive at a view of the world that is completely modern - two confirmed bachelors who will not settle for anything less than a complete love. I am extremely grateful to WAAPA and Equity for enabling us to work with the WAAPA students on this very special production, and I'm very proud that Black Swan is offering these talented young actors the opportunity to appear on The Playhouse stage in their first year of training."

Much Ado About Nothing previews at The Playhouse Theatre from Saturday, 22 August, with the opening night on 26 August. The season ends on Sunday, 6 September. Tickets are available through BOCS Ticketing on (08) 9484 1133 or online at www.bocsticketing.com.au or at any BOCS outlets.
