This July to December, Arts Centre Melbourne presents a series of events, workshops and performances especially designed to engage the youngest members of our community.

With the re-opening of the new Hamer Hall on Thursday 26 July, kids and families will once again be able to enjoy the splendour of the Australia’s most-loved concert hall. Working with the special guests and International Artists performing in Hamer Hall during the Opening Season, including Cape Town Opera and acclaimed Japanese artisan, Hiroshi Fuji, kids and families can get involved in the biggest event of the year on Victoria’s cultural calendar with an exciting series of events and workshops.

During the September school holidays, Arts Centre Melbourne has a smorgasbord of events for kids and families from Wednesday 26 – Sunday 30 September. From African-style dance workshops with Asanti Dance Theatre to being a part of an 80-piece Indonesian orchestra, Arts Centre Melbourne’s Kids and Families program has something for the most discerning young tastes.

On Sunday 30 September, the new Hamer Hall will explode with the high-energy rhythms and sounds of Raising the Roof. Lead by renowned musicians Graeme Leak and Patrick Cronin, and hosted by Julia Zemiro, this concert will celebrate the extraordinary music traditions and cultures found throughout Victoria, culminating in a participatory performance involving both audience and performers.

In the Digital Learning Hub, Arts Centre Melbourne is presenting an array of workshops for budding filmmakers and musicians. Building on 24 years of dynamic teaching and learning, workshops include favourites Instant Rockstar on and Siblings in Sync.

These performances, events and workshops are presented by Arts Centre Melbourne as part of the year-round Kids and Families program, designed to engage children and their families in the exciting world of the performing arts. The program provides opportunities for kids aged 0 – 12 and their families to interact, connect and discover the arts together
