An exciting summer and autumn program featuring a curly musical tale, an enormous, coloured elastic play space on the forecourt and a heart-warming Welsh adventure for young theatregoers makes Arts Centre Melbourne the place for families when the weather warms up.

Families are invited to get footloose and fancy free at Arts Centre Melbourne's free interactive Dance Floor located in the Smorgon Family Plaza from 11 - 23 December. As dancers leap, twirl and tiptoe across the space their steps ignite a light and sound spectacular. In January, acclaimed musical theatre song writing duo Stiles & Drewe have given a much-loved fable a modern reworking in The 3 Little Pigs, which hits Arts Centre Melbourne's Playhouse stage from January 2 - 17. Families also have the chance to participate in Tangle, an enormous, weaving play space using coloured elastic to create an interactive artwork on the forecourt from 20 - 24 January.

In February, Frank Woodley - Noodlenut will have kids rolling in the aisles as the popular comedian presents his first show for children. The fun will continue with Boxy & Sticky, a playful Welsh production for children aged 3 - 5 years in the Playhouse Rehearsal Room. Other intimate theatre experiences include Rain, an interactive work for babies, and Silk, a colourful fabric jungle where children and grownups make beautifully simple hanging sculptures.

Fans of Andy Griffith's Treehouse series will also have the chance to enjoy the stage adaptation of his award-winning The 52-Storey Treehouse from 1 - 17 April. Andy and Terry's Treehouse is bigger than ever, with rocket-powered carrot launchers, the Disguise-o-matic 5000 and even a Ninja Snail Training Academy.

Arts Centre Melbourne's year-round Families Program was launched in August 2009 and has grown in reputation to become a highly respected program both in Melbourne and nationally. Featuring free events, intimate and large-scale theatre from some of the world's most respected companies and a diverse range of interactive workshops, the program is robust and growing in size, scale and scope.
