Texas-based underground indie music collective The Wheel Workers announce their upcoming winter 2023 Texas tour kicking off with Mohawk Austin on Feb. 2, Black Sparrow in Taylor on Feb. 3 and The 101 in Bryan on Feb. 4. The Wheel Workers released their latest album, “Harbor,” earlier this year on Aug. 26, 2022 via Sinkhole Texas Records and celebrated with an official album release show that evening at White Oak Music Hall in Houston. This winter tour will mark the start of their regional tour for “Harbor.” The Mohawk Austin show on Feb. 2 features Roominghouse Madrigals and Thanks Light… opening for The Wheel Workers. Doors are at 8 p.m. and music starts at 9 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here. The group, whose career spans two decades and various iterations of its members, is composed of lead singer, guitarist, keyboardist, violinist Steven Higginbotham (the longest standing member and group founder), guitarist and keyboardist Craig Wilkins, keyboardist and singer Erin Rodgers, bassist Zeek Garcia and drummer Kevin Radomski. "The Wheel Workers may have started in Houston, but we spent much of our formative years in the early 2000s in Austin banging out our first few albums,” said frontman Steven Higginbotham. “Now the stars have aligned for our return to Austin, which we always considered our home away from home." 

Back in July of this year, The Wheel Workers premiered the final single, “Day After Day,” from their new album with Houston CityBook (see here for the premiere). In May, they premiered their single “Suck It Up” with The Big Takeover (see here for the premiere) and the single was officially released on May 20. In March, the band premiered the title track from their new album, “Harbor” with the Houston Chronicle (see here for the premiere) and it was officially released on March 25. The single release followed closely on the heels of a video debut for “S.O.S.” with VENTS Magazine back in January. Directed by T Lavois Thiebaud, the “S.O.S.” video is a stop-motion and digital animation piece about an unlikely group of humans who come together to build a giant transmission device (mirrored after the Tower of Babel) to send an S.O.S. signal into space in hopes of reaching any empathetic extraterrestrial life. The title of the latest album, “Harbor,” communicates the yearning for comfort, love, and relief a lot of people have felt during these past few years; years filled with relentless chaos, covid, political tribalism, and so on. In their own lives, they’ve gone through a difficult, tumultuous season but have found harbor from the world's seemingly endless storms in the music and in each other. 

The latest album was produced by Dan Workman and Steven Higginbotham and recorded at Studio WheelWorks in Houston by Higginbotham, Josh Applebee and Workman. It was mixed by Dan Workman and mastered by Dave McNair at Dave McNair Mastering.
