Tito's Vodka Mogul Takes a Shot at Film with THIS SIDE OF THE DIRT
by BWW News Desk - April 26, 2017
Tito Beveridge, owner and founder of Tito's Vodka, and all around Renaissance man, (from geophysicist to microdistilling pioneer,) wrote a play that was first produced in Austin, TX in September of 2015. That play then became a film directed by filmmaker Ty Roberts made with a small budget and stellar director and crew in Austin. The film is now picking up steam as it recently played at the  Sonoma Film Festival with Tito in attendance (who threw one hell of a film party with yes, lots of vodka.) More about the film and Tito's involvement below but let me know if you would be interested in chatting with Tito about his project and new found interest in film.
BWW Review: ALWAYS A BRIDESMAID: A Hilarious Trip Down the Aisle
by Emily Perzan - April 25, 2017
Always a Bridesmaid is now running at the newly renovated Palace Playhouse in Georgetown,Texas through May 14th. This play is a comical journey of four friends and their high school promise to always be in each other's weddings, no matter how many times. At first glance the play reads like a chick flick movie adapted for the stage, but it was the actors' abilities that illustrated a genuine friendship and their love for each other that made this show more than a stage adaptation. With a cast of six women, Always a Bridesmaid has a simple set and stereotypical characters, but this version gives the actors the freedom to find their bond on stage.
BWW Review: THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA Vocally Soars in Austin
by Emily perzan - April 24, 2017
Now playing at the Bass Concert Hall through April 30th, is the 1986 classic Phantom of the Opera. This Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, still running on Broadway as the longest running show in Broadway's history, has you humming as you leave the theater. Although many people criticize Andrew Lloyd Webber for his repetitive melodies, it is the magic of his music that will keep you singing a song or two and memorably reliving his orchestrations.

BWW Review: MAN OF LA MANCHA Dares to Dream at The Georgetown Palace Theatre
by Scott Shipman - April 16, 2017
The show, for those unfamiliar, is inspired by the seventeenth century literary masterpiece Don Quixote and its author Miguel de Cervantes. It is not a faithful retelling of that work, but rather presented as a play within a play as we see Cervantes himself and his fellow prisoners performing his story as they await trial by the Spanish Inquisition.

BWW Review: PERFECT MENDACITY a Dark Delight
by Frank Benge - April 10, 2017
It's the rare person who has never told a lie. Who hasn't pondered whether you could train yourself to beat a lie detector? What situation would bring you to lie? Would you lie if saving yourself or your loved one was at stake? Is it possible to craft a perfect lie? In Jason Wells' PERFECT MENDACITY the playwright investigates the realities surrounding deception when a corporate scientist tries to avoid implication after a sensitive memo has been leaked. He has engaged a professional to help him escape implication during his lie detector investigation. Wells' tale of corporate espionage, lies and cover ups, where the past comes back to haunt you as your personal and professional lives collide is darkly funny in all the best ways.

BWW Review: AS YOU LIKE IT - Excellent Shakespeare In An Idyllic Setting
by Lynn Beaver - April 06, 2017
William Shakespeare's AS YOU LIKE IT, by The Baron's Men and playing at The Curtain Theatre is an excellent production in a perfectly idyllic setting. Arguably Shakespeare's most complicated comedy, AS YOU LIKE IT, may not be as beloved as MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING or A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM but in the hands of first time director Michael Osborn, The Baron's Men have surpassed the norm to present a flawless and professional production.
