BWW Review: THE GRAPES OF WRATH at City Theatre Austin
by Rex Stanfield - August 15, 2018
Two of the greatest novels in American literature were published in a span of less than three years in the late 1930s, and comparisons between them are unavoidable. Both examined cultures at the moments of their demise - one historical, and the other contemporary. Margaret Mitchell's epic immersed readers in the collapse of the elite class, ultimate victims of their own inhumanity. John Steinbeck's masterpiece spotlighted the cultural extinction occurring at that very moment among the poorest and meekest as their livelihoods were, very literally, gone with the wind. Had it not been taken, that might have been a better title for Steinbeck's, THE GRAPES OF WRATH. The two books came to movie screens only six weeks apart to take their places in Hollywood history.

Along the way, she also examines her life choices to discovers that she prefers kindness to intellectual detachment.

Photo Flash: STAGE KISS at Circle Theatre
by BWW News Desk - August 08, 2018
Art imitates Life. Life imitates Art. When two actors with a history are thrown together as romantic leads in a forgotten 1930s melodrama, they quickly lose touch with reality as the story onstage follows them offstage. Stage Kiss captures Sarah Ruhl's singular voice with a funny and charming tale about what happens when lovers share a stage kiss-or when actors share a real one.

BWW Review: THE MUSIC MAN at The Long Center - 76 Stars!!!
by Jesse Griffith - August 02, 2018
There is trouble in River City 'I-oh-way' (Iowa) circa 1916 and that trouble is a complacency so intense that the citizens are prone to repeating malicious gossip.
