Broadway’s most talked about new musical and the biggest Tony Award®-winner in years is coming to Austin! Spring Awakening, the 8-time Tony Award® winning Broadway musical, will open at Texas Performing Arts at The University of Texas at Austin’s Bass Concert Hall and play October 20-25 and is presented by H-E-B Broadway Across America—Austin.
Jake Epstein stars as Melchoir, and is best known for his work as “Craig” on the hit television series “Degrassi: The Next Generation.”Also, Ben Frankhauser, who stars as Ernst, was a former super-fan – now living his dream and performing in Spring Awakening. Other roles are played by Christy Altomare (Wendla), Taylor Trensch (Moritz), Steffi D (Ilse), Andy Mientus (Hanschen), Sarah Hunt (Martha), Gabrielle Garza (Anna), Anthony Lee Medina (Otto), and Matt Shingledecker (Georg).Photo by Joan Marcus 2009
