Different Stages opens its 2017 - 2018 season with Carson McCullers' beautiful adaptation of her novella The Member of the Wedding. It's 1945 in rural Georgia and the story follows Frankie Addams: a gangly tomboy suffering from pubescent yearnings and a sense of fretful isolation. Ignored by her widower father and excluded by the local girls, Frankie's only real friendships are with the family's maid, Berenice, and her six-year-old cousin, John Henry. But, in the course of the weekend when Frankie's brother is set to marry, she fixates her affection on the bridal couple and determines to run away with them. The unwillingly solitary Frankie hopes that the newlyweds can be what she terms "the we of me."

Directed by Karen Jambon (Mrs Mannerly), The Member of the Wedding features Taylor Flanagan (When The Rain Stops Falling) as Frankie, Chelsea Manasseri (Vampyress) as Berenice and Jago Mystick (Kids Acting) as John Henry. The cast includes Jeremy Brown (Twentyeight) and Paul Bowie (Fletcher Players) as friends of Bernice. Frankie's brother and fiancé are played by Nate Dunaway (EL-Teatro Vivo) and Regan Goins (The Crucible). Frankie's father is played by Weldon Phillips and John Henry's mother is played by Nikki Zook. Completing the cast are Sophia Magri and Claire Rickman. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8pm. and Sundays at 6pm. No performance on Thanksgiving Thursday, November 23. Added performance Wednesday, December 6, at 8pm. Tickets are: $15 on Thursdays and $20, $25 or $30 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
