Bill Cosby to Return to Bass Concert Hall, 9/21
Texas Performing Arts welcomes back Bill Cosby, currently on his Far From Finished tour, for an intimate evening of insightful stand-up comedy. One of America's most beloved entertainers of all time, Bill Cosby has captivated generations of fans with his comedy routines, iconic albums - five of which earned Grammy Awards for Best Comedy Album, and best-selling books. His comedy transcends age, gender, and cultural barriers.
Known throughout the world for The Cosby Show, which ran from 1984 to 1992 on NBC, Cosby broke racial barriers and sent a powerful message to viewers - that the family unit and raising children matters most. The No. 1 rated sitcom earned six Emmy Awards, three Golden Globes and 10 People's Choice Awards. It helped set the stage for Cosby's career as an author, as his book Fatherhood remained at No. 1 for more than half of its 54 weeks on The New York Times Best Seller List. Among Cosby's other titles are Time Flies, Love and Marriage, Come On People: On the Path from Victims to Victors, and Friends of a Feather: One of Life's Little Fables, which was illustrated by his daughter. In Cosby's current best seller, I Didn't Ask to Be Born, But I'm Glad I Was, he talks about being a grandfather, his first love and more in his uniquely humorous and insightful manner.
In 2013, Cosby's first comedy special in 30 years, Bill Cosby: Far From Finished, debuted on Comedy Central, and he was recently signed by NBC to star in a new sitcom. Cosby has received the Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
