The Emory Dance Program Presents THE RADIO SHOW 2/23-25
The Emory Dance Program will present Kyle Abraham/Abraham.In.Motion's "The Radio Show," February 23-25 in Emory's Schwartz Center for Performing Arts, Dance Studio.
Choreographer and Coca-Cola artist in residence Kyle Abraham investigates the repercussions of the abrupt discontinuation of Pittsburgh urban radio station WAMO on a community and the lingering effects of Alzheimer's and aphasia on a family.
In "The Radio Show," the newest installment of Emory's Candler Concert Series, Abraham crafts an abstract narrative around the loss of communication. The piece is broken up into various shorter works, mixing recordings of classic soul and hip hop with contemporary classical compositions to create an eclectic score that evokes Abraham's fond memories while expressing a passion for what is lost.
Kyle Abraham creates movement that aims to delve into identity in relation to a personal history. His work entwines a sensual and provocative vocabulary with a strong emphasis on sound, human behavior, and all things visual in an effort to create an avenue for personal investigation.
Kyle Abraham/Abraham.In.Motion performs "The Radio Show" Thursday, February 23-Saturday, February 25 at 8 p.m. in Emory's Schwartz Center for Performing Arts, Dance Studio, 1700 N. Decatur Rd., Atlanta, GA 30322.
