THE PRINCESS AND THE PEA, CINDERELLA and More Set for Aurora Children's Playhouse, March 2014

By:

Aurora Theatre assembles the best children's performers in the region, bringing them to Gwinnett County for the series Aurora Children's Playhouse. This spring enjoy three amazing performances for families with young children.

Audience favorite, Lee Bryan, "That Puppet Guy" returns to Aurora Children's Playhouse today, March, 22 with his clever puppet show The Princess and the Pea, Y'all. Poking a little Southern-fried fun at the classic Hans Christian Andersen story with beautifully costumed hand puppets, The Princess and the Pea, Y'all is a delightful one-of-a-kind adaptation filled with sidesplitting slapstick comedy and witty word play.

On March 29 Aurora Children's Playhouse welcomes back The Story Ship and its creator Sean Driscoll for another dynamic performance with animation, magic, music and more in Pirate Goodie & The Magic Chest. Pirate Goodie Twoshoes and his parrot Pete take the audience on an amazing undersea adventure. Goodie can't remember how to open his magic chest full of treasure. So he calls upon the audience and his animated friends to help. The show includes a giant video screen with colorful animations and charming puppets. Plenty of magic, music and comedy make this show unforgettable.

Wendy Bennett returns to Aurora Children's Playhouse on April 5 at 10am with her hit show Cinderella. This is not your average fairytale as audience favorite Wendy Bennett puts her own spin on the beloved tale with puppets, costumes, props and plenty of audience participation. Cinderella is a tale of transformations-pumpkins into coaches, mice into horses, shabby rags into a glistening ball gown and talented singer/actress Wendy into Cinderella. Along the way interactive games like "Show Me on Your Face" and "High/Low Voices" will encourage children to exercise their imaginations. They will also cue parts of the story and play multiple roles in this make-believe fantasy. This show is fun for both little princes and princesses.

Aurora Children's Playhouse features the region's top children's performers, including: puppeteers, magicians, storytellers, jugglers and musicians intended for youngsters to have their first theatrical experiences. At about 45 minutes in length, perfect for the young attention span, these lively performances are fun for the whole family. Aurora Children's Playhouse performances are held on select Saturday mornings at 10am unless otherwise noted. All tickets $7, Reservations Recommended.
