The Roswell Cultural Arts Center has announced the new family concert series Summer Sounds will take place in August 2019. The series is a pilot project funded by a grant from Fulton County Arts and Culture and the Fulton County Commissioners, with matching funds provided by the City of Roswell.

The inaugural Summer Sounds series will include two concerts, with plans to expand the program in future years. The pilot project is intended to expand the Cultural Arts Center's high quality offerings for children and families during the summer.

"The Roswell Summer Puppet Series has been a consistently successful program year after year, and our patrons are always disappointed that it only lasts seven weeks," said Center Coordinator Donna Clayton. "This grant gives us an opportunity to extend our children's programs into the month of August and to diversify the art forms that we offer to the community."

On Friday, August 2, the Center will present Pete the Cat Songs and Stories with Mr. Michael at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Children, teachers, and parents will sing, dance, shake, laugh, wiggle, and learn together through interactive songs and Pete the Cat stories. Mr. Michael is the music producer of the popular Pete the Cat stories and songs and the co-founder of The Learning Groove. Tickets for this performance are sold out.

On Saturday, August 10, GRAMMY-winner Secret Agent 23 Skidoo will take the stage with a family hip-hop show at 11 a.m. Secret Agent 23 Skidoo combines the excitement of hip hop with the magical world of childhood. With sophisticated instrumental funk and positive, witty wordplay, Skidoo's unique and heartwarming music has garnered national awards, and 10 #1 hits on SiriusXM Global Radio. Skidoo's 2016's space-themed Infinity Plus One album took home music's biggest prize at the 59th GRAMMY Awards for Best Children's Album. Positive themes of empowerment, love, imaginations set loose, hope, ambitions, and dreams infuse his fun-filled performances.

Tickets for Secret Agent 23 Skidoo are $10 and can be purchased at RoswellCAC.com or by calling 770-594-6232.

A ticket is required for everyone ages 2 and up. Groups of 10 or more are encouraged to make reservations by calling 770-594-6232.

The Roswell Cultural Arts Center is located at 950 Forrest Street, Roswell. For more information, visit RoswellCAC.com or call 770-594-6232.
