The world premiere of Daniel Carter Brown's new comedy Honor the System opens November 11, 2016 at Out of Box Theatre as the first, official, full-scale production in the New Works Series. Brown is no stranger to the Out of Box stage, and one of his short plays was included in the Playing in the Dark Series at Out of Box, so the choice of his hilarious show was a no-brainer for the Out of Box staff. Honor the Systemwas written with Out of Box's Unique Features in mind, taking into account the size and intimacy of the space.

In Honor the System, five travelers happen upon the same hotel, but there's something a little strange about it: there's no staff. The hotel apparently runs on the honor system and mysteriously punishes those who don't comply. When "bad boy" graffiti artist Ryan (Matthew Busch) and his sister Trish (Ali Olhausen) decide to stay for a while, things quickly get out of hand, and the travelers are forced to make a decision: comply or discover the hotel's secret. Carolyn Choe directs, and Honor the System also features Karen Ruetz as Marigold, the spiritual nomad; Jeffrey Sneed as Wayne, the jaded misanthrope; and Melissa Rainey as Zoe, cougar extraordinaire.

Daniel Carter Brown has previously appeared on the Out of Box stage in The House of Yes and The Credeaux Canvas, and his short play "The Powell Plot" was included in the Playing in the Dark Series. Brown is also directing the upcoming family-friendly holiday comedy A Dickens' Christmas Carol: A Traveling Travesty in Two Tumultuous Acts. Daniel Carter Brown also runs New Origins Theatre Company, which is committed to producing plays that have not been previously performed in Atlanta.

The Out of Box New Works Series is a new program intended to expand Out of Box Theatre's commitment to supporting Atlanta-area artists; the program offers opportunities for playwrights to develop new plays with the theatre through readings, talkbacks, and constructive feedback. Out of Box is committed to including new works in each season as we work to foster the Atlanta artistic community. Each purchase of a ticket for Honor the System or any upcoming New Works Series events helps Out of Box fund and further their mission.

Honor the System opens November 11 and runs through November 20, 2016, with Thursday, Friday, and Saturday shows at 8:00 PM andSunday matinees at 3:00 PM. Out of Box Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit professional theatre located just outside the perimeter in the Artisan Resource Center at 585 Cobb Parkway S, Marietta, GA 30060. Tickets for Honor the System are $15-$25 and can be purchased online atwww.outofboxtheatre.com or by calling the box office at 678-653-4605.
