Out Front Theatre Company Kicks Off Second Season with THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW ImageThe Rocky Horror Show, possibly the most beloved cult musical of all time, will jump into the spotlight at Out Front Theatre Company, October 19-November 5.

Kicking off a spectacular second season, this production promises to be unlike any other Rocky Horror audiences have seen to date! Richard O'Brien's music and lyrics have been entertaining fans for decades, and now Atlanta audiences can Time Warp along with one of the most diverse and energetic casts of the season!

The Rocky Horror Show is directed by Matthew Busch, who served as assistant director for Out Front's mega hit The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told. Rounding out the production team are choreographer Jordan Smith and music director Nick Silvestri, who worked on Out Front's Priscilla, Queen of the Desert: The Musical. This fresh take on The Rocky Horror Show will present gender identity front and center as several iconic roles have been cast in non-traditional ways.

"Rocky Horror was edgy and groundbreaking in the 70s, almost half a century ago," says Director Matthew Busch. "The biggest challenge we faced in staging it again in 2017 was the question, 'Why? What makes this story need to be told again, and how can it speak to today's contemporary audiences?' The solution came through in casting: we purposefully 'gender-bent' the transsexual aliens to spark, or continue, the dialogue regarding gender and sexual identity that is so prevalent in society today."

A cavalcade of performers familiar to Atlanta audiences, along with several fresh faces, will take up residence for three weeks at Out Front. In addition, several special guests will appear as The Narrator on a rotating basis.

"When The Rocky Horror Show was chosen to be the first show of our season, we knew we were dealing with a performance that people can be fanatical about," says Producing Artistic Director of Out Front, Paul Conroy.

"We didn't want to rehash the movie, as much as everyone loves it, and we didn't want audiences knowing what to expect when they walk through our doors. With the cast and crew we have working on this show, I can confidently say that not a single audience member will know what has hit them!"

Audiences are invited to interact with the show in classic Rocky Horror style. Out Front will provide individual bags of props for the audience to use throughout each show. With a special midnight performance on Friday, October 27, this production will prove to be the perfect addition to both Atlanta Pride and Halloween!

Performances run October 19-November 5, with shows on Thursdays - Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Ticket prices are $15 for children, $20 for students and seniors and $25 for adults. Out Front Theatre Company is located at 999 Brady Ave., Ste. 10, Atlanta, Georgia 30318. For tickets and more information, visit outfronttheatre.com.
