Jump into fall with an abundance of autumn programming at Aurora Theatre this September!

From Teatro Aurora's presentation of the global concert experience AMOR: The Standard to the Southeastern debut of laugh-out-loud livestock-inspired comedy Singles in Agriculture and fresh workshops created for aspiring thespians of all ages, Aurora Theatre offers a plethora of theatrical entertainment all month long!

Special September Programming:

AMOR: The New Standard
Friday, September 2 at 8 p.m.
Experience the flair of the most romantic rhythms from around the world without ever leaving Lawrenceville during Teatro Aurora's special presentation of AMOR: The New Standard! From Cuba to Argentina, Colombia to Mexico; and the United States to Europe, guests will enjoy a celebration of diversity and inclusion from Latin jazz band Capricho Music during this one-night-only event on the Aurora Mainstage. This exhilarating evening of intense music with a blend of jazz, classical, folkloric and popular converging with the romance and passion of Latin music is not-to-be-missed! Aurora Theatre Academy
School is back in session, which means it's time for parents to reserve their child's spot in Aurora Theatre Academy! During this two-month intensive study, students will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform in a professional theater, along with instructors with years of real world, theatrical experience. In addition to receiving training to be a winner onstage, participants will build confidence, communication and life skills that will be a valuable part of their bright futures!

Elementary School (Grades 1-5)
In both the Budding Broadway class and the Mini & Master classes, students will receive valuable stage experience, with encouragement to work in teams and collaborate with peers. The Budding Broadway class will focus on the fundamentals of musical theater and how to master telling a clear story while singing, whereas the Mini & Master classes will focus on acting techniques through rehearsing a short, fairy tale. Both experiences will instill a sense of self-confidence in students, as they become active participants in creating portions of the sets, costumes and props for these exciting, whirlwind productions presented to family and friends. Tuition per student is $200.

Mini: Grades 1-3; Master: Grades 4-5

Budding Broadway Class

  • Mondays; September 12-November 1, 4:30-6 p.m.
    *There will be no class on October 31 in observance of Halloween

Middle School (Grades 6-8)

The Acting Edge Class
Mondays; September 12-November 1, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
*There will be no class on October 31 in observance of Halloween
In this interactive, upbeat session, teens can take the drama out of life and put it where it belongs - on stage! Through a series of theater games, exercises and exploration, the acting edge class will become an ensemble of players rehearsing a collection of scenes to be performed for friends and family during the final class on November 1. Tuition per student is $200.

High School (Grades 9-12)

#AllTheSkills Fall Workshops
High school students can learn #AllTheSkills in this killer new series of workshops led by some of Atlanta's best professional artists, happening once a month on Wednesday nights! Students can sign up for any individual workshop that fits their schedule for $25 or register for all workshops to receive a discount of $100! Please remember that there is a one-time new student registration fee of $25, if applicable. Classes will be determined based on age and with space limited, pre-booking is recommended. Adult Classes (Ages 18 & up)
Mondays, September 19-October 24, 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Adults who have been bitten by the acting bug can learn basic theater principles including cold readings, monologue delivery, how to audition with confidence and how to succeed in show business. There is a one-time new student registration fee of $25. Tuition per student is $200.

Singles in Agriculture
Friday, September 16-Sunday, October 9; various times
An unconventional convention filled with laugh-out-loud livestock-inspired comedy, the 2016-17 GGC Harvel Lab Series will debut with the Southeastern regional premiere of Singles in Agriculture, September 16- October 9! This brand-new production, written by Abby Rosebrock, brings together lonely farmers looking for love - or at least the next best thing - during an annual dating conference. With only one weekend to graze the field for eligible matches, a whole new meaning of "love birds" will be imparted on Atlanta audiences. Featuring the dynamic cast of Jeremy Aggers, Lauren Boyd and Vallea Woodbury, this hilarious presentation will prove that everything really is bigger in Texas, including how far some people will go for love!

In addition to regular show times, Aurora Theatre will host "Cocktails & Cuties: A Singles Night" on Saturday, September 24 from 7-8 p.m. in the theater lobby for singles who are ready to mingle! Featuring tasty bites, cocktails and a DJ, metro-Atlantans looking for love are invited to enjoy this FREE event prior to the evening's performance. Tickets to the show are not included and must be purchased separately.

Lawrenceville Ghost Tours
Friday and Saturday throughout September; 8:30 p.m.
Looking for a spine chilling scare this fall? Thrill-seekers will enjoy a ghostly stroll through downtown Lawrenceville with real stories about really spooky places. Tickets are $12 for adults and $9 for children. For more information, visit scarystroll.com.

Lawrenceville Haunted Cemetery Tour
Select nights in September; 8:30 and 10 p.m.

Women in Jeopardy
Thursday, September 29-Sunday, October 23; various times
Fun, flirtatious and filled with adventure, Aurora Theatre invites Atlanta audiences to play detective during the Southeast premiere of Women in Jeopardy, September 29-October 23! Written by Wendy MacLeod, imaginations run wild as two divorcees set out on a mission to uncover the hidden truth of their friend's new dashing dentist boyfriend! Does his dark past actually exist or will they uncover nothing at all? Join Mary and Jo as they trade in their wine glasses for a pair of spyglasses!
