The Aurora Theatre recently announced that Holtkamp Heating & Air Conditioning is now the theatre's official HVAC service provider. By partnering with Holtkamp, Gwinnett's premier heating and air company and a long-time supporter of the arts, the Aurora further proves its dedication to providing the best experience possible for patrons.
"Aurora patrons come to the theatre for the full experience; the play or musical is only one aspect," said Anthony Rodriguez, artistic director. "Our customer service and commitment to patrons' comfort is just as important as the theatrical presentation. Making sure the climate is right is key to creating a high level of comfort."
For the Aurora, choosing Holtkamp was an easy decision. Matthew and Suzanne Holtkamp, company owners, have supported the theatre for many years and were already working with the Aurora to sponsor a learning library children's program.
"They asked us what else they could do to help the theatre," Rodriguez said. "Our HVAC needs are incredibly important when it comes to creating the level of comfort our patrons have come to expect from us. Holtkamp examined our needs and knew they could not only maintain but also improve the comfort for our patrons."
The new partnership is one the Holtkamps were eager to start.
"We've always been fans of the Aurora. We value the excellence they bring to the professional performing arts, and we want to support that excellence within our community," said Suzanne Holtkamp. "At the Aurora you are truly part of a family but you also have all the advantages of professional theatre."
It's a relationship that's already benefiting the community so important to both the Aurora and the Holtkamps. When the Holtkamps started the Gwinnett CAN Challenge, a year-long project dedicated to raising 10 tons of food for local food banks, the Aurora immediately jumped on board.
"Matthew and Suzanne want to use all of their gifts and talents to create a better community," Rodriguez said. "Suzanne has such a passion for the food bank, and we are working on ways to subtly remind Aurora patrons that the food bank is in need all year long, not just during the holidays."
The Aurora is one of the official locations for the Gwinnett CAN Challenge. Currently, the theatre is hosting the Fourth Annual Festival of Trees, which is open to the public. Visitors vote for their favorite tree with canned goods. The friendly competition is loads of fun for patrons and companies alike. "Everyone wins, especially when you consider the amount of food that Aurora Theatre visitors will bring. All donations, no matter from which tree, will be given to Gwinnett food banks. That's the best part," says Suzanne.
For the Aurora staff, the benefits of the partnership are numerous, whether it's a joint effort to help the community or increased ways to be more financially conservative.
"We look forward to the day when Holtkamp installs programmable thermostats throughout the Aurora Theatre," Rodriguez said. "The thermostats can help us calculate how to most efficiently heat and cool the space. Being a small non-profit, we are always mindful of being on a budget."
