Aurora Theatre, Gwinnett's only professional theatre will present the 2012 Barbara Awards on Monday, February 13, 2012. This year, the awards, named in honor of arts philanthropist Barbara Howard, will honor Kathryn Parsons Willis with the prestigious Barbara Award for her tremendous legacy of support for Aurora Theatre.

Kathryn served on Aurora Theatre's original Board of Directors and has been a vibrant part of our community for many years, lending her talents to Duluth Fall Festival, The Gwinnett Hospital Foundation and demonstrating a tireless passion for the non-profit community. The Barbaras are now awarded each year at a festive fundraiser that celebrates community members who shine a bright light on the cultural arts along with those artists who have become Aurora audience favorites.

At this year's event the awards ceremony will recognize the best shows and individual performances from Aurora's 2010-2011 season as voted on by the general public. Anyone can view the nomination list or place a vote for their favorites online at the Aurora Theatre website. The merriment begins at 7pm with a fabulous reception followed by the awards ceremony at 8pm including musical performances from nominees led by Ann-Carol Pence and her band!

Tickets are $40 per person or $75 per couple and include a $25 per person tax-deductible donation.

"Delicious heavy hors d'oeuvres by Celebrate the Occasion Catering will be served and there will be a cash bar available. So dress up and come out for a fun-filled evening with all the spectacle of a major award ceremony."

Aurora Theatre Producing Artistic Director Anthony Rodriguez on what this event means to him, "I spend a lot of my time making sure that our supporters and the artists who come here to share their talents feel appreciated. The Barbara Awards are a very public way to say thank you and it is a chance for our patrons to personally show their appreciation as well"
